Oh yes, it is! But it’s no longer the fashion!! How man changes!!!
Who cares about remaining a virgin until marriage? Anybody? Well even if you don’t, the Almighty God cares!
And I care, too!
My friend out there let me bother you with this “thorny” issue this time around. Thorny in the sense that you might not belong to this “old school” as I do! More so, you too might have long “lost it” [understand?]! Whatever your position, God’s position on this matter remains infallible.
Do you believe that the God of the Bible days is still the same today? Do you even believe the Bible and the God of the Bible at all? Do you agree that He yet deal with His today’s people as He dealt with the “them of old”? By the way, are you really one of His? If you have affirmative response to the above, then you must listen to me, even if you are offended!
Let me refer you to a very interesting Bible passage:
“If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and detests her,
“and charges her with shameful conduct, and brings a bad name on her, and says, ‘I took this woman, and when I came to her I found she was not a virgin,’
“then the father and mother of the young woman shall take and bring out the evidence of the young woman’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate.
“And the young woman’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man as wife, and he detests her.
‘Now he has charged her with shameful conduct, saying, “I found your daughter was not a virgin,” and yet these are the evidences of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
“Then the elders of that city shall take that man and punish him;
“and they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought a bad name on a virgin of Israel. And she shall be his wife; he cannot divorce her all his days.
“But if the thing is true, and evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman,
“then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. So you shall put away the evil from among you.” [Deut. 22:13-21, underline for emphasis].
Can you see how very serious this matter was for God’s people of old? Being dis-virgined before marriage was regarded as a disgraceful thing, an act of harlotry/fornication, and a sin worthy of death! Think God’s thinking less about that nowadays? Oh, you goofed! He’s not a “modern God”, neither His word modish. He’s the Ancient of Days; and His word is age-old and settled in heaven for all ages!
Any act of sex before marriage is a very disgraceful and destructive sin in the sight of the Almighty. “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will [then and NOW] judge” [Heb. 13:4]
Why is God so interested in you preserving your virginity till your wedding day? It’s because God’s main purpose in giving you [woman] the hymen is for it to be broken at the first intercourse with your husband as a token of your marriage covenant with him! You know that marriage covenant is the most sacred and strongest human covenant. And it is a holy blood covenant. When the hymen is broken, God has programmed it to lead to “shedding of blood”. The blood becomes the most sacred and strongest token whereby the marriage between the man and the woman is dedicated [Heb. 9:18].
When this is not the case on your first night in marriage, then the judgement is death: “For the wages of sin is death” [Rom. 6:23].
If you give your virginity to the man you aren’t married to, then you have wasted your best token for a holy matrimony! Precisely, all that remain for you to give to your eventual marriage partner is your disgraced and disvalued self! That’s the painful point, beloved.
This is why if you are lucky to still be a virgin, to have the best and give the best to your marriage covenant, I adjure you by the mercies of the Lord to hold forth till the first night of your marriage. You will never regret you do, I vow! You may not imagine what pride and honour await you now; but wait to see it.
Now, what about those whose virginity has been lost to “strangers”? All I can do is to encourage you to take heart and be consoled by the fact that the blood of Jesus Christ is sufficient to wipe away your disgrace, cleanse you of your sin, and deliver you from the death judgement; if truly you are born again. I suppose that must be a great relief, and the very reason why you must henceforth remain chaste till your marital bed is consecrated.
Once you truly yield your life to Jesus Christ by being born again, you become a brand new person in Christ. God simply winks at your ignorant past and its loads of sins. He begins to see you as a new creature and, spiritually, you become a “Christ virgin” [2Cor. 5:17]. You are cleansed of your past misdeeds, and God expects you to remain under that grace through chaste living [Rom. 6:1-2]. Fornication under grace leads you back to the disgrace of old, and the death sentence is consequently restored! Of course, the latter end will be worse than the beginning [2Pet. 2:20-22]!
Therefore, keep your self pure for your spouse-to-be only!
