Topic:  UNNFIT FOR SOLID FOOD (2)

Bible Text:  1 Corinthians 3:1-3

                1 Corinthians 3:1-3

  1. And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3. for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? [NKJV]
  • Just a Charge

Yes, Christian babes are prone to manifest some level of carnality along the line of their growth unto maturity. However, it is unfortunate that there are many that had been in the church for many years but yet remain carnal! There are a lot of Christians who have been “born again” for several years, some have even become Christian workers/ministers for many years, but are yet full of carnality! Paul wrote, For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? Are these traits only found in young Christians? No! You see these and worse in many so-called “old Christians”! When you look at the traits of carnality in Galatians 5:19-21 for instance, I bet you will find these manifest in many who are supposed to be “elders” in the faith!                Carnality is one of the banes of the Church of Jesus Christ today. You see it among young and old Christians. You see it among Christian workers. You see it among Ministers of God. One may even wonder at times whether some Pastors are bone again at all by the time you notice the level of carnality they are conspicuously manifesting! You see a lot of fleshly struggles. You see divisions. You see envy. You see in-fighting and bitter quarrelling. You see rivalry. You see boasting. You see lying and all shades of falsehood. You see pilferage. You see all manner of despicable ungodliness. Yet, we all name the name of the Lord [Matthew 7:21-23, 2 Timothy 2:19]!                Let us always remember this: “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” [Romans 8:7-8]. God is not mocked. It is either you are spiritually-minded, living under the control or leadership of God’s Spirit, or you are carnal-minded, living according to the dictates of the human nature (the flesh). The two cannot go together. You must crucify the carnal nature in order that the God-nature might take root in you and show forth in your deeds. Consider this matter very seriously and settle the matter in His presence today. Let His Cross crush your flesh today!               Have a beautiful time in His awesome presence.

  • Think upon

It is either you are spiritually-minded, living under the dictates of God’s Spirit, or you are carnal-minded, living according to the dictates of the human nature (the flesh). The two cannot go together.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Romans 8:7-8

  1. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (KJV)
  • Prayer Points:
  1. Let the living soul praise the Lord!
  2. Worship our Blessed Redeemer.
  3. Thank God for all in your house; and for His good plan for you all this week.
  4. Honestly judge yourself on the matter raised today – carnality. Are you truly born again? If not, whole-heartedly surrender your life to Jesus today.
  5. Are you born again; even already serving God in one capacity or the other, but yet you are full of carnal traits? Today, surrender your flesh to be mortified at His Cross. Pray fervently that the Lord should put an end to the work of the flesh (carnality) in you today.
  6. Let us pray that God should intervene in His church today and purge His workers and ministers in particular of the works of the flesh.
  7. Hand over to God the rest of your activities for today. Commit all your plans for the week unto Him also.

Topic:  HOLINESS: THE MASTER-KEY

Bible Text:      Hebrews 1:9

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.  [KJV]

  • Just a Charge

Do you want to have the best of God both here and in eternity? If so, then, hear this: Holiness is the master-key you direly need. Some say “Prayer is the master-key”. Hmmm, that’s suspect and subjective! Prayer is good, but everyone – saints and sinners – do pray (at least, so it seems)! The prayers of sinners are abomination unto God. Yes, He hears and answers the prayer of the believers; but that also can experience clog on the way – the clog of unrepented sin, the clog of unbelief, the clog of wavering faith, etc.! So, even though prayer is a vital key, it is not the master-key!

Holiness is the master-key. Concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, heaven bears the witness, “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows”. Fervent love of righteousness coupled with passionate hatred for iniquity is the platform for holy living. For you to be lifted above the heathens and even your peers, holiness is the key need in your life. Righteousness is the key to exaltation – “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” [Proverbs 14:34]. Also, without holiness, you cannot see God – here and in all eternity [Hebrews 12:14]. When you are living holy, your life pleases God, and you become like the apples of His eyes. He watches over you with jealousy. He will freely demonstrate His love and power in and through you. You will become His precious and special treasure on earth [Exodus 19:5-6]. Holiness is the only ticket to heaven [1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Revelation 22:14-15].

Choose the life of holiness today and always trust God for the grace to live so every day of your life.

  • Think upon this:

Fervent love for righteousness coupled with passionate hatred for iniquity is the platform for holy living.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Psalms 37:28

For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Thank God for the grace of life in you today.
  2. God is holy. Worship Him in the beauty of holiness.
  3. Father, I want to live holy. Please generate in me today fervent love for righteousness. Please help me Lord.
  4. Father, please help me to passionately hate iniquity from today, in Jesus name. Give me grace every moment to hate sin, resist temptations and overcome iniquity, in Jesus mighty name.
  5. Father, be merciful unto me and all mine today. Bless the works of our hands greatly, in Jesus name.

Topic:  I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED

Bible Text:      2 Timothy 1:12

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. [KJV]

  • Just a Charge

Do you have faith in God? Good, if so. But, first, do you really know the God in whom you believed? This is the vital question. That the knowledge of God must precede or go before faith in God is the import of our today’s text. To have faith in God that you know not will be essentially academic! This is because you can only believe God to the extent you know Him.

Paul, in 2 Timothy 1:12, conveys the idea that he understood the character of the Lord to whom he had committed his eternal interests, and knew that he had no reason to be ashamed of confiding in Him. He was fully persuaded that He was (just as He yet and always) able to keep all that he had entrusted to His care, and that He would not suffer him to be lost. When you are well acquainted with the goodness, mercy, power, and faithfulness of God, it is very easy to trust Him to manifest this in you or on your behalf. Without this knowledge of God, trusting Him will be at best merely mouthy!

Do you know God? What do you know of Him? The matter of knowing God to the best possible should be of primary interest to any child of God. This is one thing God wants us to glory in. “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.” [Jeremiah 9:23-24]. Your knowledge of God will strengthen your faith in Him, assure your heart to take rest in Him, and give you confidence that you cannot confide in Him in vain.

I wish you a wonderful day.

  • Think upon this:

Your knowledge of God will strengthen your faith in Him, assure your heart to take rest in Him, and give you confidence that you cannot confide in Him in vain.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

1 Timothy 4:19

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Give thanks unto God for the grace of life today.
  2. God is ever a reliable God. If you know He truly is, praise Him!
  3. How much of God do you know, if at all you know Him? Judge yourself. Confess your true state unto God.
  4. If it is your desire to know God, or to know Him the more, make your request known unto Him.
  5. Do you truly believe in God as concerning whatever you have trusted unto Him? If so, confess this unto Him with a sincere heart.
  6. Thank God in advance of His loads of benefits for you today.

Topic:  Topic:  PROOFS OF MATRIMONIAL ONENESS (2)

Bible Text:      Matthew 19:6

Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. [KJV]

  • Just a Charge

“Mutual dependency” is another proof of matrimonial oneness that we are considering today. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 11:11, “Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.” Among Christian marriage, husband and wife are wired to be mutually depended on each other in all things.

When, as married man or woman, between you and your spouse you begin to feel and enjoy real sense of crushed independence, of interwoven and mutually-inclusive lives, it shows that your oneness is evolving genuinely. It shows that your two lives are becoming truly coupled into matrimonial One. At this point, you both have entered the stage where you realize that you inescapably need each other to survive. At this stage, selflessness or unselfishness is the order rather than exemption. Self-sacrifice becomes the norm between both.

Couples, examine yourself: on this evidence, are you truly One? If not so, you fall short of God’s expectation! You are at best “married singles” rather than a Couple! Begin to work on this from now on, lest your union falls short of God’s glory!

I wish you the best in all today. Amen!

  • Think upon this:

When, as married man or woman, between you and your spouse you begin to feel and enjoy real sense of crushed independence, of interwoven and mutually-inclusive lives, it shows that your oneness is evolving genuinely.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

2 Kings 4:8-10

  1. And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. 9. And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. 10. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. (KJV)

 Prayer Points:

  1. For the breath of life in your nostrils today, give thanks unto God.
  2. Magnify the Lord God, the Creator of all things.
  3. Once again, thank God for your family. Thank God for your marriage in particular, if you are married.
  4. Today, as a married person, are you truly One with your spouse in accordance with the design of God? If not, acknowledge this error today, and pray that God will help you to form genuine oneness with your spouse.
  5. Pray that God will help you to mortify any sense of independency from your spouse that is yet in you. Pray that God will help you to crush anything that is still partitioning you from your spouse.
  6. Commit your day unto God.

Topic:  WORRY IS THINKING, RETHINKING, OVERTHINKING

Bible Text:      Philippians 4:6

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. [The Message]

  • Just a Charge:

Worry is an emotional activity that has its root in the mind of man. Indeed, it is a negative emotion that disturbs the peace of the mind! Worry is a strong feeling of anxiety. It is a mental distress or agitation resulting from concern usually for something impending or anticipated. To worry is to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts!

Worry starts from the mind – from thought. Precisely, worry results from thinking, rethinking and overthinking! When worrisome thought comes to you, and you let it alight to think upon it, you will likely find that such thought keep reverberating in your mind to keep thinking upon it. Overtime, you will see yourself become a captive of such thought, until you find yourself in a state of overthinking upon such thought! At that point, apprehension sets in. You become nervous or uneasy. That becomes torment to your soul! If not quickly dealt with, you become a captive of worry, and your mind loses its peace and sanity!

What is the best solution to debilitating worry? Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Very straightforward divine prescription! If you can do this in faith, you will be free from worry; and your mind will be flooded with the peace of God. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” [Philippians 7:7].

Peace be with you today. Amen!

  • Think upon this:

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Luke 12:22

And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Give thanks unto God for your life today.
  2. Exalt the ever-living God. He is our peace.
  3. Proverbs 4:23. Are you such a person that is giving to unguarded thoughts leading to worry? Pray to God for His help to be able to guard your heart from worrisome thoughts from today.
  4. Psalms 55:22. Pray for grace to always overcome worries by turning your worries over to God in prayers.
  5. Pray also that God will help you to always counter worries with thanksgiving for God’s good thought towards you and kind dealing with you at all times.
  6. Colossians 3:15. Pray that the peace of God should fill your soul today, and begin to rule in your heart from today.
  7. Commit all your affairs today unto God.

Topic: DO YOU REALLY NEED IT?

Bible Text:      Philippians 4:19

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. [KJV]

  • Just a Charge

The Creator of man, right from the beginning, knew that man would have needs. Thus, even before forming man, He had already provided for all he could ever need. The Bible says, “And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” [Genesis 2:8]. So, that man has needs isn’t but natural and normal!

Even though sin blocked God’s free provisions for him, that he now needed to sweat to meet his need, the restored man (one that is born again, and now a child of of) is repositioned in Christ to have God as his Provider. God knows all the needs of His children, and He is rich and kind enough to meet them all.  Jesus says in Matthew 6:8, “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” And Paul assured us of the ability of our heavenly Father to supply all our needs – But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Now, it is vital that we are always mindful of what the promise of God here centres upon – OUR NEEDS. Not our wants! Not our fancy! Not whatever we lust after! Not our greed! He promised to supply each one’s needs (which He knows – Matthew 6:32), not the needs of others which he craves to have! It is very crucial to know that not all our wants tally’s with our needs. In other word, we do not really need some of the things we want! Whereas our wants are essentially borne out of our fancy, our needs are for our existential sustenance. God is not obliged to meet our “needless” or “unneeded” wants; He didn’t promise us such!

Therefore, always ask yourself whenever you want to ask God for anything: Do I need it? Stop wasting your time or stressing yourself asking God for what He never promised! He is only committed to fulfilling His promises; and, to all His promises, He is faithful. You can only safely trust Him to answer your prayers that are according to His will (promises). “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” [1 John 5”14-15].

Today, may God supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, Amen!

  • Think upon this:

Therefore, always ask yourself whenever you want to ask God for anything: Do I need it? Stop wasting your time or stressing yourself asking God for what He never promised!

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Matthew 6:31-32

  1. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. By the mercy of God you live today. Praise Him!
  2. Magnify the Jehovah El-shaddai. He is God who is more than enough.
  3. If you are a child of God, celebrate your privilege position you occupy in God’s heart. Thank Him for being your Shepherd (Psalms 23:1).
  4. Has God being faithful to you in meeting all your needs in the past? If so, acknowledge this and give Him thanks.
  5. Are you prone to fretting because God do not supply your wants? If so, now that you know He is not committed to that, ask Him to forgive your error. Pray for His forgiveness in any way you have being grieved against Him before.
  6. From today, commit your trust unto God to always supply all your needs, even as you ask Him per time. In Jesus name.
  7. Finally, pray: Father, today, manifest Your all-sufficiency in my life and family, in Jesus name.

Topic: BEFORE YOU RELOCATE, LOCATE THE WILL OF GOD

Bible Text:  Genesis 26:1-4

  1. And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. 2. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 3. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 4. And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; [KJV]
  • Just a Charge

God is interested in the location of all His creatures. By the way, He is the One that allocated each one in the place He pleases. Then, He sends every one of His creatures his/her/its allocation to meet them at their several locations. So, not only is God interested in you as a person, where you are located is of interest to Him as well.

We have Isaac for example to affirm this assertion. Because of famine in Gerar where he lived, he was planning to relocate to Egypt so as to escape the bitter consequences of the famine. He had good hope of better life in Egypt. He was relocating to “greener pasture” Egypt. However, God told him not to relocate as he wished. Thank God that he was God-sensitive! He obeyed God. The result: “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.” [Genesis 26:12]. His divine allocation met him where God located him. Surely, he would have lost his divine allocation had he went ahead headlong with his own plan! More so, worse things could have happened to him in Egypt!

We have a case of the negative scenario in the man called Elimelech, the husband of Naomi. He relocated himself and his family to the land of Moab, reasonably to escape the famine in his own land of divine location, and to give his family better life at greener-pasture Moab! However, he definitely never sort God’s direction on that move. That decision and relocation ended up wasting his life and his family! We can read this story in Ruth 1:1-5.

Another such self-seeking location or relocation that proved wrong was that of Lot. He chose “all the plain of Jordan” and “pitched his tent toward Sodom” out of his own lust. That led to him dwelling among “the men of Sodom (who) were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.” That led to the ruin of his family! (Genesis 13:10-13).

Conversely, Abraham was relocated by God unto the land He allotted to him and his seed forever (Genesis 12:1-3). Also, for the sake of preserving the life of Jesus Christ from Herod, Joseph and Marry the mother of Jesus was temporarily relocated to Egypt by God. They were there until the death of the Herod that sort to destroy Jesus (Matthew 2:13-15).

These few examples should convince us that the issue of where we are located or of relocation is such a critical matter that we may not be safe to handle presumptuously. It is good to seek God’s direction any time we feel the need to relocate. Also, it is a good thing also to seek God concerning where we are presently located – especially with established evidences that the land isn’t yielding good fruit unto us. Only God who has the plan of our life in His hand, who knows the end from the beginning, knows where we should be rightly located for His allocation for our life. We should therefore dare not locate or relocated ourselves except at His direction and approval.

I wish you a good day and wonderful weekend.

Only God who has the plan of our life in His hand, who knows the end from the beginning, knows where we should be rightly located for His allocation for our life. We should therefore dare not locate or relocated ourselves except at His direction and approval.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Matthew 24:28

For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. It’s a new day alive by the mercy of God. Give Him praise.
  2. God is excellent in all His works. He does all things for us. Worship Jim!
  3. Another week of daily loads of benefits you and your family have enjoyed from the Lord. Give Him thanks for all He has done for you all this week.
  4. Psalms 139:16. All the details of your life are written by God in His book. Jeremiah 29:11. Also, God has the best plan for your life. If you believe this, Acknowledge and thank Him for your life in His hand.
  5. Also, thank God for the truth revealed to you today.
  6. Do you think you are presently wrongly located somehow? Are you thinking of relocating somewhere? If so, settle it prayerfully never to move but at God’s prompting or approval.
  7. Then, pray on your thought plan in this direction. Pray now and until you receive divine direction.
  8. Commit the rest of your day and the weekend unto God.

Topic:  UNNFIT FOR SOLID FOOD (1)

Bible Text:  1 Corinthians 3:1-3

Yes, all Christians are not at the same level of spiritual maturity. There are spiritual babes – especially recent converts or believers who are just few months or couple of years in the faith. Just as in the natural life, God has prepared milk for them in His words and His dealings. Nobody feeds a three-month old baby with chicken and chips, for instance! At that stage, milk is the most appropriate food. When Paul was at Corinth, he treated this church as babes as he fed them with milk: he only taught them the simple, rudimentary principles of the kingdom. Milk talks of simple and elementary teachings of the word. At that stage, they were not yet “Spiritual” – that is, advanced in spiritual sensitivity and knowledge, and prepared to understand and profit by the higher and more difficult truths of the gospel.                We must also recognize that at this stage of spiritual development, such babes are prone to manifest some measures of carnality. Yes, they are born again. Yes, they have the seed and root of grace abiding in them. Nevertheless, the relics of corruption of the flesh and the world wherein they lived hitherto yet remain in them. That is normal. That is expected. No child starts to walk firmly at birth! It takes some stumbling here and there to develop firm feet in life. It is the same pattern in spiritual growth. What is important is that the church should acknowledge this and make needful and adequate provision for such category of believers that is aimed at nurturing them unto maturity. Then, they will be able to accept and digest “Meat” – stronger and deeper doctrines. Let each babe also have the desire and be ready for proper growth and not choose to remain perpetual babes. Every babe surely has the capacity to grow. Let that capacity be well-fed with healthy spiritual food; and there shall be healthy growth thereby.               May there be great increase of Christ’s kingdom in you and in His church today. Amen!

  • Think upon

Let each babe also have the desire and be ready for proper growth and not choose to remain perpetual babes.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

2 Peter 2:1-3

  1. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Give thanks unto the Lord of the living for counting you among the living today.
  2. Bless the name of the Lord. Exalt His majesty.
  3. Appreciate God in faith concerning His favour prepared for you and your house today.
  4. Are you a spiritual babe? If so, talk to the Lord: Father, I acknowledge that I am a spiritual babe. Thank You for making me Your baby.
  5. Now pray: Father, I desire to grow unto spiritual maturity. Please feed me with healthy spiritual food from today, in Jesus mighty name.
  6. Father, let there be daily increase of your kingdom in my life henceforth, in Jesus name.
  7. Let us pray that God will open the eyes of our church leaders to the peculiar need of the babes in the church, that they may be motivated to do the needful to see that they are well-fed unto full maturity in Christ.
  8. Hand over your week unto God.

Topic:  THE TURNING POINT

Bible Text:      John 4:28-30

  1. The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29. “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30. Then they went out of the city and came to Him. [NKJV]

  • Just a Charge

The truth is, No one ever had an encounter with Jesus Christ and ever remain the same afterward! Just one encounter; and that becomes your turning point in life and eternity!        The Samaritan woman whose story we can read in John 4:4-42 had been living a messy life, until she had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. The transformation following after became evident almost instantaneously. From being a deplorable live-in lover [a fornicator, so to say: a sinner], she became an Evangelist of God’s own kingdom! From being a social scorn, she became a social reformer! Just one encounter changed her story to glory. That singular encounter gave her eternal relevancy in the kingdom of God.        I think one of the greatest challenges of the church today is the problem of people who had never had any personal encounter with the Saviour. Yes, they have been attending church programmes for ages. Yes, they had the gospel preached to them severally. They probably believed the word. Pronto, they are “born again” – probably because they came out in response to certain “altar call”. Yet, it appears that no real inward change had taken place – as can be outwardly evident!         Friends, only a personal encounter with the Spirit of Christ can produce that real internal change that cannot be contained until it is evidently overflowing through the individual’s attitude, speech, conducts, countenance and character. Otherwise, it will be mere “improved flesh” struggling to behave contrary to nature! This will be a losing battle for sure; for no amount of improvement can transform or reform the flesh! Only genuine encounter with the Saviour can crucify the flesh, put paid to its desires and deeds, and produce real life in the Spirit. Without that, such individual will at best be a carnal Christian. That is not the kind of life that Christ died to give!        Do you desire the real life of Christ? May you have an encounter with the Saviour today. Amen!

  • Think upon this:

Only genuine encounter with the Saviour can crucify the flesh, put paid to its desires and deeds, and produce real life in the Spirit.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Galatians 5:24

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Thank You Lord Jesus for the grace of life today. Thank You for your mercies upon me and all mine.
  2. Worship Christ the Redeemer. He saves unto the uttermost!
  3. If you have never really had that spoken-of life-transforming encounter with Jesus, though you are “born again”, please cry to the Lord for that today, as you pray: Father, bring me by Your grace unto transforming personal encounter with Jesus today. I desire it earnestly, in Jesus name.
  4. Father, I surrender everything in my life that is resisting to be transformed into the image of Christ. Remove it from my life by Your mighty hand, in Jesus name.
  5. Today, O Lord my Father, cause my joy to be full over my life and all that concerns me, in Jesus mighty name.

Topic:  KEEP YOUR AX SHARP ALWAYS

Bible Text:      Ecclesiastes 10:10

If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success. [NKJV]

  • Just a Charge

Labouring in life with brute strength, rather than intelligence and careful thinking, is like cleaving wood with a blunt axe-head! Ask any wood hewer. He will tell you how brutally truthful this is! Every hewer of wood understands the wisdom in going to work with sharp axe. Sharp axe reduces or even eliminate needless stress and sweat. The sharper the axe, the easier the job’s done. The more fruitful the hewer becomes. Sharp axe is a key prerequisite for efficiency and productivity in whatever one does.               What is “the axe of success” in your life’s endeavour? Whatever your endeavour, spiritual or secular, it definitely has “a winning axe” that must be kept sharpened all the time. For instance, if you are a class teacher, it is important you keep increasing in the knowledge of your subject so as to stand above your students, remain relevant, and to become a sort-after expert. Constant study and research on your subject becomes your winning axe. It must be sharp always. If you are a minister of God, remaining alive with God’s Spirit and the Word and prayers should be your winning axe. This must be consistently sharp for you to remain relevant to God and man. In marketing terms, your winning ax is your competitive edge with which you stand above competitors!                Therefore, I urge you: Whatever your profession, career or trade, look out for the winning axe, and seek always to keep it sharp. Never let it go blunt. That is the good way to ensure continuous relevance and to achieve stress-free success in all your labour. Be wise; keep your axe always sharp!               May all your labour in life attract divine grace in Jesus mighty name.

  • Think upon this:

Therefore, I urge you: Whatever your profession, career or trade, look out for the winning axe, and seek always to keep it sharp. Never let it go blunt.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Ecclesiastes 10:15

The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Father, I thank you for the grace of life for yet another day. Thanks for all that are mine also.
  2. Magnify our eternal Enabler. It is he who teaches our hands to profit
  3. Whatever your profession or calling in life, there is a winning axe that you must possess and rightly employ. Today, pray: O Lord God, Please reveal to me the winning axe of my profession, calling, career, etc. in Jesus mighty name.
  4. Pray that the Holy Spirit will teach and always help you to rightly employ your winning axe unto good profit.
  5. Pray to God to help you to do whatever is needful to keep your axe always sharp.
  6. Father, baptize all my labour (you can mention specifics) with you grace, in Jesus mighty name.
  7. Let us commit our activities today unto the Almighty God. Pray that His will be done in your life and home today, in Jesus name.

Topic:  Topic:  PROOFS OF MATRIMONIAL ONENESS (1)

Bible Text:      Matthew 19:6

Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. [KJV]

  • Just a Charge

The design and desire of God concerning marriage is that husband and wife should be One Flesh. This, of course, is not an abstract or baseless demand; it is one that is founded upon the design of the Man He made, out of which marriage was formed. He created only one Man. The two genders – Male and Female – in the Man were housed in one body (dust). He merely separated the two genders, house each in separate dust, then He brought them together to be joined together as One; henceforth, He declared”: No more Two but One!

Thus, the moment a man and woman is joined together in matrimony, they become “one Person” in the sight of God; and God demands that they should become One Flesh. “One Flesh” here talks of indivisibility. It talks of inseparableness. It talks of harmony. It talks of commonness. It connotes singularity of personhood. And, from the wedding day, the working of Oneness begins. Overtime, that the two are becoming One Flesh should be evident – to God, to the couple and, eventually, unto onlookers.

Today and the next few Wednesday, we shall be pointing out few proofs of matrimonial oneness – evidences that clearly indicates fruitfulness of effort at becoming One Flesh. May God minister to us all, and especially to every couple, as we move on. Amen!

Today, the evidence we are considering is found in Genesis 2:23, which says:  “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” When God brought the woman He had just formed to the man, rather than seeing “another creature”, he saw her in himself and himself in her, and he boldly declared: “She is part of my own bone and flesh” [Living Bible]. Rather than being bothered about the physical being before him, he saw in the woman the same gender he had had creative oneness and co-existence with for many years unknown! I bet you, were the woman to have been put on record, she would have made similar confession! In essence, both saw each one in the other: they saw themselves as One and same!

A clear evidence of oneness in marriage is when spouses “own” each one. When you and your spouse begin to truly see (in your mind-eyes; in your consciousness) yourselves as “one person”, and possess or own each other as “my own” or “my-self”, it proves that oneness is being fruitfully worked out in that union! This begins from the heart/mind; then unto conscious acceptance; then unto true confession: then this is acted out in every aspect of your life and union. This is an evidence that you will know, if it be real!

Couples, examine yourself: on this evidence, are you truly One? If not so, you fall short of God’s expectation! Begin to work on this from now on, lest your union falls short of God’s glory!

I wish you the best of the day!

  • Think upon this:

A clear evidence of oneness in marriage is when spouses “own” each one. When you and your spouse begin to truly see (in your mind-eyes; in your consciousness) yourselves as “one person”, and possess or own each other as “my own” or “my-self”, it proves that oneness is being fruitfully worked out in that union!

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Song 6:3

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies. (KJV)

 Prayer Points:

  1. Give thanks unto God for His breath of life yet in your nostrils today.
  2. Exalt the wonderful Creator. All His work is perfect from the beginning!
  3. Whatever the state of your marriage or family, thank God for it! He is still God over all.
  4. Please thank God for what He wants to accomplish in marriages, especially yours, through the series that begins today..
  5. As married person, do you truly share the will of God to be truly One with your spouse? If so, thank God for that. If not, pray today that God should help you to agree with Him on this His design.
  6. Now, pray: Father, please help me to “discover myself” in my spouse. Give me that true revelation today.
  7. Father, from today, let me receive grace from you to wholeheartedly “own” my spouse, and to live out that in all reality, in Jesus name.
  8. Finally, commit yourself, your house, and all that concerns you today unto God.

Topic:  WHO IS YOUR COUNSELOR?

Bible Text:      Proverbs 12:5

The thoughts of the righteous are right, But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. [NKJV]

  • Just a Charge:

Yes, it is good and safe to be open to counsels in order to help us escape avoidable errors and come out of life’s dilemmas or struggles better off. Yet, there is the need to watch against deceitful counsels and counselors. As we have good and profitable counsels/counselors, so we have the bad and harmful ones. At the end, we take responsibility for every counsel we admit!

Some counsels turn bad inadvertently, due to the innocent limitations of the counselors or counsels. It may be due to the inadequate knowledge or wisdom underlining the counsel. That is why we too must be up and doing when it comes to the matter of godly and good knowledge and wisdom; so that our heart would be well guided as to what counsel to accept or apply at the time of need.

However, some counsels are deliberately injurious. This is because the counselors are consciously deceitful and wicked! They are set for evil, though disguised most times. They are bad, and want to multiply themselves! Watch for your dear soul!!! Such was the counsel of Serpent to mother Eve as we can read in Genesis 3:1-5. Adam and Eve were personally responsible for acting upon such unsuspecting but evil counsel: and they bear the consequences unto the present generation of humanity!

Just imagine yourself seeking counsel on how to handle the threat of a second wife your husband is going for from a friend who is a third wife herself! Imagine yourself seeking advice on how to improve your sales from a rival who has no Spirit of God in him! Imagine yourself seeking advice on how to make a choice of the right marriage partner from someone who himself or herself is a game-player – a play-boy or a street-girl! Some people will deliberately give you wrong and misleading advice because they wish you evil; for they are evil in their heart! You must watch against such counsels.

Always have this at the back of your mind: “The heart (of the natural man; of the wicked man) is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). Before seeking or taking anyone’s advice or counsel, it is down to you to be able to attest to the worthiness of the life of the intending counselor. No one can give beyond what he has! Every tree will bear fruit after its own kind! Remember: you will ultimately be responsible for and bear the consequences of whatever advice or counsel you accept!

Have a nice day.

  • Think upon this:

Remember: you will be responsible for and bear the consequences of whatever advice or counsel you accept!

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Psalms 1:1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (KJV)

Proverbs 4:14-15

  1. Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. Thank God for your life in the land of the living today.
  2. Sing a song of praise unto the Owner of your soul. Appreciate Him for Who He is.
  3. Are you in a mess because of certain wrong counsel(s) you have taken in the past? Today, plead to God for His mercies, and that He should overturn the damaging consequences of such counsel in your life, marriage, business, ministry, etc.
  4. Father, please give me a discerning heart to know and differentiate between good and bad counselors and counsels.
  5. Father, I trust my life and all that are mine into Your hands today. Uphold and keep us from all the evils of the day, in Jesus mighty name.

Topic: DANGERS OF DESPERATION

Bible Text:      Isaiah 28:16

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. [NKJV]

  • Just a Charge

Desperation is a state of being desperate, abnormally anxious or of having the recklessness of despair. To be desperate is to be reckless or dangerous because of despair, hopelessness, or urgency. You probably have heard of the word “desperado”. That is the ignominious appellation of a desperate person!

What are the behavioural traits of a desperado? Anxiety, Hastiness, Impulsiveness, Recklessness – in words, decision or choice-making, actions or reactions, etc.  Desperation blurs the mind, perverts thoughts, causes confusion, push one unto unhealthy compromises and unto making (sometimes, costly) mistakes! These all are dangerous and damaging fruits of a desperate spirit. Even the Holy Book tells us of some of these dangers of desperate (hasty) spirit: “….he who is impulsive exalts folly.” [Proverbs 14:29, NKJV] …….. “…..those with a hasty temper will make mistakes” [Proverbs 14:29, NLT]. “Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.” [Proverbs 29:20]. In other word, A desperado will not only act mostly foolishly, he is even worse than a fool! That terrible!

Now, we need to know that desperation is actuated by feeling of hopelessness – a feeling or condition of having no hope! It is a reflection of a gloomy, faithless heart! In today’s scriptural text, God tells us: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. This affirms to us that by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall have no cause to “flee in hasty alarm”. That means that our faith in Him guarantees rest assurance of hope. It tells us that no one who believes in Him will ever have the fear and shame of disappointment – which is the cause of desperation in those who believe not. It is this lack of faith in the Lord (in His promises; in His faithfulness; in His love and care; etc.) that creates the dark gloom in the soul. Our faith in the Lord produces in us patience hope that waits and weary not, until our expectations are met.

Today, I encourage you to come out of your hopelessness and desperation. Take your rest in the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus Christ. No one will ever be put to shame that put their trust in Him. May your soul be freed from desperation today. May you enter into your rest today. Amen and Amen!

I wish you a good day!

  • Think upon this:

Desperation blurs the mind, perverts thoughts, causes confusion, push one unto unhealthy compromises and unto making (sometimes, costly) mistakes!

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

Isaiah 32:17

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. To Him that is among the living there is hope. Thank God that you are still alive today
  2. Worship the ever-faithful, ever-loving Father of our souls.
  3. That you are still alive today, no matter what you are feeling, is evidence that your hope is not dead, and that you are not done for! For this cause, sum up courage to thank God for this reality.
  4. Have you hitherto lost hope to the point of desperation? If so, stop your agony today! Prayerfully tell yourself the bitter truth: that you are not done for! Pray that the Holy Spirit should please quicken your hope again.
  5. Now, pray for faith in the Precious Cornerstone – Jesus Christ. Confess your trust in Him, that He is able to resolve whatever your trouble is.
  6. By faith, command whatever gloom that had overshadowed your soul hitherto to disperse, in the name of Jesus.
  7. “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” [Hebrews 4:9]. Pray that God will help your faith today, so that you may enter into His rest from now on.

Topic: FAITH IN GOD IS THE SUBSTANCE OF TRUE REST

Bible Text:  Hebrews 4:1-3

  1. Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. [KJV]

  • Just a Charge

Let us today build upon yesterday’s charge. We want to reiterate and re-emphasize that faith in God is the substance (reality; concreteness; force) of true and lasting rest.

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith in God makes real to us whatever we are expecting but that is not yet physically real or manifest. Without faith in God, the heart knows no rest! The Bible says, “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” [Psalms 125:1]. Without faith in God, the soul of man knows neither stability nor assurance!

Why is rest assured by faith in God? It is because God is too faithful to fail! Whatever He says He would do, you can safely consider it done! You can trust Him to the very end; and He will do it. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” [Numbers 23:19]. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” [Isaiah 40:8]. He owns all the resources of heaven and earth, more than enough to meet the needs of everyone who put his or her trust in Him.

The word of God also assures us of the blessedness of trusting in God – “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”  [Jeremiah 17:7]. “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:” [Psalms 146:5-6]. Rest of mind is one aspect of the blessedness of faith in the Living God; and such individuals will have the joy of the Lord as anchor for their soul at all times.

May your soul enjoy perfect rest from today, as you make the God of Jacob your Hope henceforth. Amen!

Happy weekend!

  • Think upon this:

Rest of mind is one aspect of the blessedness of faith in the Living God; and such individuals will have the joy of the Lord as anchor for their soul at all times.

  • Today’s scripture meditation:

1 Peter 1:24-25

  1. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25. But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (KJV)

  • Prayer Points:
  1. It’s of the mercy of God that you are alive today. Praise the Lord!
  2. The everlasting God is faithful. He is sure Rock to trust in! Magnify Him.
  3. Appreciate God for all He has done for you and your house this week.
  4. Thank God for a core secret of true and lasting rest He has shown you today – faith in God. Rejoice in His truth.
  5. Today, pray for grace to trust in God with a true heart, and absolutely.
  6. Father, as I repose my absolute trust from today, let me enjoy your rest in my soul henceforth, in Jesus mighty name.
  7. Let us raise individual prayer requests for corporate prayer.
  8. Hand over your day and the rest of the week unto God.
